Freeze Drying Process
1. Freezing Stage: Initially, 500 kg of fresh flowers, such as roses, jasmine, saffron, etc., are placed in the KFD-50 freezer. During this stage, the temperature is lowered below freezing, typically ranging between -40°C and -50°C. This causes the water in the flowers to freeze into ice.
2. Vacuum Stage: After the flowers have been frozen, the vacuum system initiates the extraction of air from the drying bin. The vacuum reduces the pressure in the drying chamber, allowing the icy flowers to sublimate directly from a solid state to vapor without undergoing a liquid stage. This process is referred to as sublimation. Moisture is sublimated from the flowers and converted to vapor under vacuum conditions.
3.Sublimation Stage: Icy flowers undergo direct sublimation from a solid state to vapor without transitioning through a liquid stage. This step is crucial in the moisture removal process.
Freeze drying technology ensures that the moisture in the flowers condenses rather than being reabsorbed into the flowers.
Through this process, the Flower Freeze Dryer effectively preserves the color, shape, anthocyanins, and other components of the flowers, while extending their shelf life. Freeze drying removes moisture without compromising the quality of the substance and inhibits the growth of bacteria and microorganisms. This has led to the widespread use of flower freeze dryers in the preparation of long-stored foods, highly popular ready-to-eat foods, and more.
